Biography

A lover of Nature and an admirer of the provençal school painters, it was quite natural that Yves Calméjane settled in Provence after a classical formation in Nantes and Paris Beaux-Arts. He stayed there about 30 years before moving in 2013 to a small town in the Puy-de-Dôme.

Artistic approach

Yves Calméjane is a painter of the harmony with Nature. He places his easel within the landscape he transcribes. In close-up, his paintings seem almost abstract because Yves Calméjane doesn't pursue details, but the "moment". A step backward and the magic happens : strokes merge into a magnificent yet humble landscape.
