Exhibition in Clermont-Ferrand from March 6th to May 5th, 2018, along with Jean Soyer.
Graduate from Versailles' École supérieure d'horticulture and passionate artist, Chicorée first focused on floral art, discipline in which she reached the ultimate state of Meilleur ouvrier ("Best Worker") de France in 1972. Afterwards she devoted herself to her first love, painting, and has been distinguished by several prizes and rewards. Her oil paintings are characterized by a perfect blend of lyric abstraction and figurative elements.
Following the lead of Zao Wou Ki and Turner, Chicorée thrives in an lyric abstraction with a strong character, to which she applies deep, bright, intense and blazing colors, inspired by her fascination with Van Gogh. Her paintings often endure a long maturation before the final brush stroke — a way of speaking, for Chicorée usually works directly with her hands, or with a knife. She sometimes sprinkles her abstract landscapes with figurative motifs, often floral, a nod to her own history. Her greatest joy : when people are "questioned" by her paintings.
